I believe in the right to life.

As Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence, we are all endowed by our creator with “unalienable rights” to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” and government is instituted “to secure these rights.”

Life comes first for a reason: without life, there is no liberty and no pursuit of happiness. A just government is not only one that respects the right to life, but one that actively defends it for all its citizens — born and unborn.

It’s estimated that since the Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973, there have been over 60 million abortions in the United States. Just as our generation looks back on the sins of slavery with moral revulsion, future generations will judge our society for the mass genocide taking place in abortion clinics across the nation.

I am thankful every day that the number of abortions in the U.S. drop every year, but a lot more must be done to make abortion an unthinkable practice once again — both by promoting a culture of life and enacting legal protections for the unborn.

When you send me to Congress, I will rein in Washington and defend our fundamental rights and freedoms, including the Right to Life.

My Voting Record in the Maine Senate

100% Pro-life

As a state senator, I built a proven record of standing on principle for what’s right, while also building coalitions to get things done.

My record:

▪ Supporter of the Life at Conception Act
▪ Committed to ending all taxpayer funding for abortion providers, such as Planned Parenthood
▪ Defender of conscience rights of health care workers, so they’re never required to participate in an abortion to keep a job
▪ Sponsored legislation to prohibit taxpayer funds for abortion providers and require parental consent for abortions performed on minors

When elected to Congress

In Congress, Eric Brakey will stand up for our fundamental right to Life by:

  • Co-sponsoring the Life at Conception Act to bypass Roe v. Wade
  • Opposing all taxpayer financing of abortion, and any of our tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood
  • Protecting conscience rights of health care workers and organizations so government can’t force them to support abortion
  • Defending state laws seeking to protect the Right to Life
  • Supporting regulations that protect women from predatory abortion providers,
and protect babies born alive during an attempted abortion

It’s not easy to stand up to the abortion lobby. I’ve seen their ruthless tactics and the smear campaigns they run against pro-life office holders. I met them head on while I was in the Maine Senate and demanded that life be protected.

In Congress it will be no different and the good news is that the pro-life movement is stronger than it’s been at any time in my lifetime. I plan to use that momentum to go on the offensive against federal funding for abortions and to defeat Roe. v. Wade.
